‘XTM Performance’ Brand Film

XTM Performance — Brand Film

David Spurdens directed, filmed and edited an 8-minute brand film for Australian outdoor brand XTM Performance — a large-scale project featuring stunning imagery captured across Australia and around the world.

The film explores the history of the Forras family, XTM’s Heat the Homeless initiative, the company’s headquarters in Torquay, hero product and lifestyle sequences, and much more. David filmed approximately 70% of the project himself, while also editing and integrating historic imagery and archive footage to create a rich visual story spanning the brand’s past and present.

The primary camera was the mighty Canon C400 cinema camera, paired with a range of RF L and EF L lenses. Production equipment also included Litepanels 1x1 and 6x lights, Vinten and Sachtler tripods, Sony microphones, a DJI Mini 4 drone and DJI RS 4 Pro gimbal. AI editing was used for the client who liked animating the historical stills photographs, zero regenerative AI was used from prompts alone.

Post-production was completed using Apple 27-inch iMacs and a 17-inch MacBook Pro, all working alongside a six-bay server. DaVinci Resolve was used for colour grading, while Final Cut Pro X provided the magnetic timeline editing workflow. Voice overs were recorded using a 32-bit float recorder.

It was a mammoth project — and a lot of fun — working alongside XTM Performance Founder and Owner Peter Forrasand his amazing team at the XTM HQ in Torquay, Australia.

The finished film can be watched on the XTM Performance homepage. We hope you enjoy it!
